Health is generally defined as being "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" according to the World Health Organization (WHO). In 1986, the WHO, in the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, said that health is "a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities." Classification systems such as the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC), which is composed of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) also define health. Overall health is achieved through a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being, which, together is commonly referred to as the Health Triangle. What exactly are health inequalities and health determinants, and how are they linked to each other? Asked by No idea - Thu Sep 18 11:18:49 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Health inequalities are 'determint' by your post-code! Answered by Seadog - Thu Sep 18 11:44:38 2008 How are you paying for health insurance if you are one of the millions recently laid off? Q. I know COBRA is available for many, but it is very expensive to keep up and runs only for a limited period. Questions like this have been asked before and those against governement supported health care just accused those who didn't have health insurance as lazy losers. But with the economy crashing, the scenario has changed. If you aren't employed anymore and have no income and little savings, what are you doing for health insurance? TAT...I left my job and my COBRA payment was $1,200 a month for me and my family. When you are unemployed, that is a LOT of money and not "reasonable" as you describe it. Many don't have enough money for rent and food, much less that kind of money. Asked by wooper - Thu Feb 5 10:02:08 2009 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. There are many things that are expensive. COBRA is reasonable. If insurance is important to someone they need to make that sacrifice. I guess we should be paying for their food and homes. Those are expensive and a necessity. Where does it stop? \ Bad things happen. That is life. Hard times come and tough decisions have to be made. That still does not make it anyone else's reponsibility to care for you. And you need to talk to COBRA again. That figure, according to the guy I just spoke to , seems inflated. Answered by TAT - Thu Feb 5 10:06:48 2009 What are the negative health effects of not getting enough sleep?
Q. First, I do not have insomnia, I can sleep just fine, I am just choosing not to because I can. I can stay up for two days at a time without any trouble, and I don't use any drugs to keep me awake. Now, I am not even tired when I go to sleep at the end of the 2nd day, but I go to sleep anyway because I know I should. I have been doing this for about a month, and it appears to have no effect on my health. I exercise every day and eat right, I just think that this may somehow effect my health in the long run. Is there anything I need to worry about? Asked by United - Fri Jan 27 07:04:45 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. when we sleep our brains dont shut down but slow down. we rejuvinate our brain causing us to think more clearly and be more preductive in just about everything we do.
