A deadline in when the goods has to hit the finish line to full fill your promise of action, in the most competent way possible in the most professional manner to which you promised to perform. It is not and has nothing to do with passing the buck. The buck stops with you. If you didn't full fill the deadline competently, then you are the one at fault. Once the deadline has been full filled as expect and passes hands as a complete finished project or part of a section of your perported section of the project, only then do you walk away from it, and with it a fat check, for doing your job well.
