Stress is a term in psychology and biology, first coined in the 1930s, which has in more recent decades become a commonplace of popular parlance. It refers to the consequence of the failure of an organism – human or animal – to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats, whether actual or imagined. Stress symptoms commonly include a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion, as well as irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate and a variety of physiological reactions such as headache and elevated heart rate. Anxiety is often manageable and mild, but sometimes it can present serious problems. A high level or prolonged state of anxiety can make the activities of daily life difficult or impossible. People may have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or more specific anxiety disorders such as panic, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Both antidepressants and antianxiety medications are used to treat anxiety disorders. The broad-spectrum activity of most antidepressants provides effectiveness in anxiety disorders as well as depression. The first medication specifically approved for use in the treatment of OCD was the tricyclic antidepressant clomipramine (Anafranil). Actually a lot of non-emergency medical specialization do not require more than the regular consultation hours like cardiologist, neurologist, internal medicine, oncologist, pathologist, etc. Usually those that involve surgeries like nuero-surgeon, cardio-surgeon, obe-gyne, and others like pediatrics and infectious deseases are on call round-the-clock. Although most of the surgeries are elective, meaning scheduled, then the surgeons are not also necessarily stressed by emergency procedures. However, they are called in when emergencies like accidents occur. Obe-gyne patient's schedules, however, are difficult to predict at best and which I would consider the most accessible doctor to patients, time-wise.
